|
|
Using our CPL System on the web, you can generate Closing Protection Letters ("Letters") right from your desktop. To register, complete the online services registration form.
Processing your own Letters is easy!
Just follow the instructions below. If you need help, call Shawn Harlan at (704)895-5136 or send us an e-mail at chicagotitlenc@ctt.com.
- Log onto the site by entering your username and password.
- Enter information requested in Step 1 (Lender/Insured) and Step 2 (Attorney) sections. The Lender/Insured’s name should not include language insuring successors and/or assigns. Either a complete address or a fax number must be entered for the Lender/Insured. The approved attorney’s name must be entered exactly as it appeared on the attorney’s application for approval. The first name, last name, and city are matched with an internal database. If the name entered is not recognized, it is possible that it has been added or the attorney has relocated since the last update to the database in which case you should contact Carol VonCannon by telephone at 336-759-3108 or by e-mail at voncannonc@ctt.com.
- In Step 3, if you are an approved attorney, enter your Bar Number. If you are an agent, enter your Agency Number. If you are a direct office, enter the location and name of your office such as Greenville-CTIC. A Borrower’s name identifying the transaction is required. Letters may be issued in the name of Chicago Title or Security Union Title by selecting the desired company name from the dropdown.
- Once the Letter has been generated, it will be displayed on your screen for you to view and print.
- You also have the option of using the retrieval tool. Once you have generated a Letter, note the Letter ID# that appears on your screen and give this to your lender. The lender can then access the site, enter the Letter ID# and instantly access the Letter online – one time only.
- The Letter generated is the North Carolina Title Insurance Rating Bureau NCTIRB-01-2003 Closing Protection Letter, Filing PC064747 with the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Questions about the Letter should be addressed to one of our state legal counsel, Nancy Ferguson or Jeff Hrdlicka, at 800-445-9983.
- Letters can only be issued for individual licensed North Carolina approved attorneys (N.C.G.S. 58-26-1(a)). We do not allow issuance of letters for law firms, which could include paralegals, legal assistants, clerks, and others who are not approved attorneys.
